Centre de données de Géothermie Profonde

The Deep Geothermal Data Centre (CDGP) is a data center managed by University of Strasbourg, dedicated to the collection, preservation and distribution of data from deep geothermal projects in Alsace (France).

The CDGP distributes various types of data: seismological, hydraulic, geological, etc.

The CDGP is the French national node of the EPOS Thematic Core Service Anthropogenic Hazards (TCS-AH).
This European infrastructure provides open access to multidisciplinary datasets on induced seismicity.
Through the EPISODES Platform, CDGP data are shared with the European scientific community, enabling advanced processing and visualization tools.

BCSF-Rénass

The Bureau central sismologique français - Réseau national de surveillance sismique (BCSF-Rénass) is a component of the National Observation Action (ANO) “Seismology” of the National Observation Service (SNO) “Solid Earth”, labelled by the CNRS-INSU

The BCSF-Rénass, located in Strasbourg and managed by the Ecole et Observatoire des Sciences de la Terre (EOST), is in charge of:

Episode: 1991 Stimulation Soultz-sous-Forêts

Collection

During the 1991 episode, two 50‑hour injection tests were performed in GPK‑1 at 7 and 15 L/s, generating significant induced seismicity. A network of CSM accelerometer probes and hydrophones in nearby wells detected over 400 events, about 60% of which were successfully located.

The May–July 2003 hydraulic programme at GPK‑3 involved an 11‑day deep stimulation injecting 34 000 m³ of water (including an initial 450 m³ brine slug), followed by a 17‑day post‑stimulation circulation test between GPK‑3 and GPK‑2. Microseismic monitoring continued throughout the operations until late August, capturing the system’s response across five distinct hydraulic phases.

Collection

The 2005 program included a second hydraulic stimulation of the GPK-4 well, followed a few days later by a chemical stimulation using diluted hydrochloric acid. Two injection tests with increasing flow rates, one before and one after the acid treatment.

The June–July 2000 hydraulic programme at GPK‑2 involved a six‑day deep stimulation over the 4431–5084 m openhole interval, injecting 27 800 m³ of water including an initial 700 m³ brine slug to promote downward fracture growth. After a one‑week pause, a post‑stimulation injection test was performed, followed by 11 days of continued seismic monitoring.

The 1996 hydraulic programme at GPK‑2 included a production test, a major re‑stimulation injecting 28 000 m³ at rates up to 78 L/s, a stepped injectivity test, and two short circulation experiments between GPK‑2 and GPK‑1. Around 7 500 microseismic events were detected, with about 5 700 successfully located.

The 1995 hydraulic program tested GPK‑2 and its ability to circulate with GPK‑1. After low injectivity was confirmed, short‑ and long‑term stimulations were performed, followed by post‑fracturing tests and three brief circulation experiments between the two wells.
