Episode: ECOGI geothermal project at Rittershoffen - development phase

Collection
The ECOGI geothermal plant in Rittershoffen has operated since 2016, supplying 24 MWth of heat at 170 °C to a nearby biorefinery. Its development (2012–2014) involved drilling GRT‑1 and GRT‑2, during which induced seismicity was recorded by permanent and temporary networks.

The GeORG project (2008–2012) built a 3D geological model of the Upper Rhine Graben, offering maps and cross‑sections accessible online. A subset around the Rittershoffen site was extracted for use.

GeORG 3D Geological Model — Rittershoffen

The GeORG project produced a 3D geological model of the Upper Rhine Graben. The BRGM distributes the French section, and a 10 km cut‑out around the Rittershoffen site was extracted, including major lithological interfaces and faults.
