Episode: ECOGI geothermal project at Rittershoffen - development phase

Collection

The ECOGI geothermal plant in Rittershoffen has operated since 2016, supplying 24 MWth of heat at 170 °C to a nearby biorefinery. Its development (2012–2014) involved drilling GRT‑1 and GRT‑2, during which induced seismicity was recorded by permanent and temporary networks.

During June–July 1994, GPK‑1 underwent a production test followed by an injection test. About 6 200 m³ of fluid were produced in June using EPS‑1 as the injection well, and 9 600 m³ of water were injected in July at varying flowrates to assess the injectivity of the stimulated fracture system.

Around 7 500 microseismic events were detected, with about 5 700 successfully located.
